DuPont Performace Coatings

DuPont™ Performance Coatings is a global company, and is the world's leading supplier of automotive coatings. Until recently, their Australian website was controlled and updated from an overseas office.







The DuPont team in Australia wanted more control over their websites, and a focus on news, products and information that was relevant to their local client base.
 
There were a lot of technical requirements in their brief, including many directives to do with the structure of the site. Site hierarchy was very important, in regards to site navigation and ensuring that certain links were accessible from the homepage.

Using the existing US site as a reference point, Solutions Outsourced worked to create a series of four websites that remained true to the company’s overall brand, but also reflected the wants and requirements of the Australian market.
 
One of the main considerations was to create the parent site, www.dupontpc.comau, and then create three more stand-alone sites that branched off that same template.
 
Furthermore, DuPont required each site had to redirect to the same domain name. Four different websites with four different URLs were created, but when one domain name is type in – for example, www.spieshecker.com.au, the site will redirect to www.dupontpc.com.au/spieshecker.
 
It was a request that SiteFlex didn’t support until that point, so initially there were a lot of navigational issues to overcome. However, we understood that being able to host four sites in one was a huge benefit for the client, so we worked out a solution to achieve this outcome. It now allows the client to share common contacts in the CMS and use google analytics tracking at an overall level. If the four individual URLS were maintained, DuPont would have been forced to have four separate analytics accounts, which would make it more difficult to compare historical records and apply tracking filters.
 
Finally, there were also several guidelines to follow in terms of style and colour selection, as the local sites were required to fit in seamlessly with the company’s international websites.




 

Because the websites needed to fit with the company’s international brand, there was plenty of custom development involved. Solutions Outsourced worked closely with the client to create the online presence in Australia that they were seeking, and DuPont was very happy with the result.
