Curtis Aviation

Curtis Aviation is a top class flying school that providespilot
training,ratings and endorsements for pilot licences, as well
asscenic, aerobatic and vintage joyflights.

Curtis Aviation had an existing site, including the creative plane
cockpit area, which was designed using flash. The challenge for
Solutions Outsourced was to create a whole new website – using
only vector artwork and no stock photos in the design – while
integrating the existing flash component.

This was a long-term project due to the complexity of the website.
The home page opens with a “view” through the plane’s cockpit,
complete with subtle movements as the “plane” navigates the sky.
The cockpit is interactive, allowing visitors to click on some of the
dials to access other pages within the site, such as the shop or
latest news. Another important feature is the weather page, which
is interactive, content-heavy and very useful to pilots.

Curtis Aviation requested the option for customers to be able
to buy joyflights directly through the site – such as a half-hour
instructional flight – so we custom built an image-based product
system using Siteflex to achieve this.

The overall design is unique and visually appealing, largely
due to the inclusion of backgrounds, headers and footers that
were custom-created using vector artwork, rather than stock
imagery. The website incorporates a simple purchase process
system that allows customers to purchase joyflights with ease.

Just as importantly, the purchasing system can be amended and
customised by the client, providing them with the flexibility to keep
their product pages up to date.
