  • Moustache Season - Movember 2011

    Posted by Miko

    1 November, 2011

Solutions Moustached has packed their plaid shirts, dusted off their mo brushes and loaded their hair folacles. Moustache season is open, and the hunt will be fruitful.

A new year of Movember brings with it an eager team of ladies and gentlemen with an itchy upper lip, long before their moustaches even began. Who will grace us with the densest, thickest, most luscious moustache? Will it be Peter "Five O' Clock Sunset" Ford? Or will MoJo Wilson come up with some voodoo to produce the goods?

Only one way to find out, but be sure to keep your finger on the pulse and make your own judgment! You can do that right here on the official SoMo Blog, where we'll do weekly progress updates on the antics of our rapidly growing hairbabies.

For your viewing pleasure, especially because the boys look mighty sharp for the Melbourne cup, here's our Mosaic for November 1. Don't forget to come back in a week to check our official progress report!

Show your support for Movember 2011 by donating to Solutions Moustached or any team member of your choice. I'll leave you this week with a quote from the revolutionary Late Steve Jobs*, who was known to sport a healthy face of hair:

“Fashion is what seems beautiful now but looks ugly later; art can be ugly at first but it becomes beautiful later. A Moustache is both at the same time.”

*Bit of a misquote. Read the real quote in the A Sister's Eulogy for Steve Jobs by his Sister Mona Simpson.

  • Pretty in pink Friday for a special cause

    Pink Day Celebrations 2011

We held a Pink afternoon last Friday to raise some money for Breast Cancer Awareness month and for a bit of fun amongst our team. The afternoon included various activities to give everyone the chance to get involved in helping support this important cause. We asked staff to get involved in the pink theme by ensuring at least a third of what they were wearing was in fact pink. Some attempts weren't as successful so luckily we had some pink props on hand in the events dept.

Activities over the afternoon included a Siteflex Apple* and spoon race up the View St driveway (or for those who dared to take it to another level, a fork), a Pink Jelly eating competition and several rounds of foosball with the winners fighting to donate extra to the cause. Small prizes were awarded to the winners of these events and a best dressed announcement was made. Some team members made more of an effort to get out of their comfort zones, but it took a bit more to get them walking down Argyle St in their full outfits. Heads up to our Director Mark and team member Dom for putting on pink afro wigs during some of the days events.

We managed to raise $208.70 for the breast cancer foundation, a cause close to the hearts of some of our team.

For more information on supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation visit the Pink Ribbon website to help.

Take a look at some of the fun we had on the afternoon and let us know your picks from the day.

    * Note Siteflex Apple and spoon race is a Solutions Outsourced take on the traditionally more messy egg and spoon race. Feel free to contact us if you'd like to know what a Siteflex apple is.

  • We say goodbye to Steve Jobs

    Posted by Andrew

    6 October, 2011

This morning we received news that Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple had lost his battle with cancer. His influence has transformed technology as we know it today, changing communication in the digital age forever.

He was welcomed back to Apple in 1996 to a company that was fast going downhill. He repositioned the company, completely turning it around to form one of the biggest brand names in the world. He brought buzz back to Apple, revolutionising the desktop computer, changing the way we interact with music and transforming the way we communicate. He was the face of many carefully rehearsed presentations, introducing the iMac, iPod, iPhone and more recently, the iPad. His ability to think outside the box is something to be admired.

Steve Jobs will be greatly missed but not forgotten – he was an inspiration to us all. CNET talks about the death of Steve Jobs in an in-depth article and accompanying video.

Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower" – Steve Jobs
