  • Solutions attend Staff Christmas Party in anticipation for holidays!!

    Posted by Zoë

The Solutions Team wrapped the year up in style with a night at the Bohemian Restaurant in Narellan last night, filled with a massive table of schnitzels, sauerkraut and good cheer. The night included some serious schnitzel scoring, a passionate past time of many of the staff (obviously Dom was quite happy with his). I rated the vege "schnitzel alternative" option of battered camembert and mushroom with cranberry and mayonnaise quite highly myself.

After a busy end to the year it was great to unwind, even the camera found time for a rest - hence the lack of many staff members captured on the night. :)

  • The gift of giving this Christmas - African Aids Foundation

    Posted by Brett

    14 December, 2010

Sometimes there is a lot of talk about doing, but not as much doing.

One such topic I have noticed come up often is the topic of giving to charity at Christmas time, a topic that deserves the follow-through, but isn't always.

The African Aids Foundation has a strong relationship with Solutions Outsourced. I'm extremely proud that we help support AAF in many ways already; including the hosting, design work and Siteflex action, all off of our own back (with pleasure!). But this year we're going an extra step and joining in on the first AAF Christmas appeal, donating towards helping provide a better future for African children and their communities

    .

It's not just the company going the extra step this Christmas, I have decided some of my own personal Christmas shopping will involve donating to AAF's first Christmas appeal. I know I have talked about it before, but this year I am doing it.

Why I have chosen to give to the African Aids Foundation comes down to the great people involved, and the fact that every single cent donated goes to the people who need it. With so much turmoil in the world, it's great to know the people at AAF are doing a great job to help some of those who are truly in need.

You too can do something, right now. Head over to the African Aids Foundation website's Christmas Appeal where you can choose to:

    • Place a child into a Life Skills Programme for only $50
    • Support, clothe and educate a Home Based Carer for $150

I'm glad I have the opportunity to support these great people in making this world a better place. Unsure about what to give someone for Christmas this year? Consider the African Aids Foundation Christmas appeal as something everyone can get behind and appreciate.

  • Get the best result... with carrots!

    Posted by Brett

    8 December, 2010

caption:Mmm carrots! Quite tasty in a soup, salad or stir fry!One of the general lessons you learn in life is that carrots are good. That is, the carrot method wins over the stick method.

The folks over at Volkswagen's Fun Theory series have taken this approach to speeding and safety, the theory being that making the right thing fun works better. The ever aluring carrot!

Not to spoil the video completely, but the experiment was a great success. Sometimes it pays to think outside the box a little to achieve the best result.

Consider if you can apply a similar carrot theory to other aspects of your business or life - perhaps it will open up possibilities for a positive change and the end result you are after.

While you're there check out some of the other great videos in the Fun Theory series, or head over to the Fun Theory Facebook Page for more interesting concepts.
