  • A GREAT website starts with a GREAT Brief

    Posted by Olivia

    16 November, 2010

Why it's so important to take the time to construct a detailed brief for your designer!

Commissioning the design and build of a website is an important aspect for many businesses. Whether the final website is successful or crashes and burns depends greatly on the details you provide your chosen designer within the initial brief meeting.

When a client takes the time to put their thoughts and aims to paper it helps both parties work together and get through the project as smoothly as possible.

As a designer myself I have been involved in website projects from their beginning, through to launch and observed the behaviour of these websites online. The result is that most websites will reflect the amount of effort and time that has been given to a brief.

A detailed brief empowers your designer to create a website which will appeal to your businesses audience, set itself apart from the competition and operate it's core purpose. It will also streamline the project process allowing the designer to develop and work to a timeframe as well as ask more direct and specific questions to complete the project in the most efficient manner.

A Great Brief = Quick Turnaround

  • AIMIA Digital Project Management

    Posted by Dom

    15 November, 2010

Here at Solutions Outsourced, we are always on the look out to improve and expand upon our skills, and the service that we provide, so when we heard about AIMIA's Essential Digital Project Management conference we jumped at the chance to head up to Pitt St to mix it with some of the major digital media agencies in Australia.

AIMIA, the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association is the peak industry body for interactive content and digital media in Australia, and their conference focused on Project Management techniques applied to our unique industry of digital media. On the agenda for the day was plenty of great discussion on how we can work together with our clients to deliver successful web projects, and how to identify when a project is getting away from the original plans.

Plenty of laughs were had with this classic cartoon, first conceived in the 1960's and adapted in 2005, of how and where projects can go wrong:

    Project Management Tree Swing

We've brought back with us some fresh new ideas on managing our projects through every phase of the development process, and are very keen to start integrating these methods into our daily work.

If you'd like to chat with us about how we can ensure your web project really swings (:O), or just want to test our PM skills, we'd welcome the challenge! Get in touch with us to find out more.
