  • Video Interviewee Tips

Hi guys, fresh from our staff video shoots this week we have a few tips we'd really like to share with the community with regard to making these interview style videos. Hopefully they'll help get you a better result:

    1) Unusual props are always a winner. Ladies, here's an idea: grab some Christmas ornaments and use them as earings. Fellas, perhaps some Christmas bling-bling is in order? Nobody will be paying attention when there's something awesomely distracting hanging off your ears or around your neck!

    2) The power of pause: instead of throwing in the regular, run-of-the-mill array of "umm"s and "ahhh"s... just say nothing! Even if its for a good solid second or two longer than a comfortable pause should be. Who makes these comfortable pause time limit rules anyway?! Bah! Keep that audience on it's toes, build the suspense!

    3) Everybody looks at the camera. Boring! Do something different - look at a random object or even just the person interviewing you! Perhaps a bowl of fruit.

    4) Leave your audience wanting! Consider storming off immediately after the final word of the interview with a bit of a "thank goodness that's done and dusted" clickety click and a "see ya later suckers, I'm outta here!" hand gesture.

    5) But most importantly, if you are going to bust out some secret dance moves on camera while your interviewer is absent from the room make sure you delete the file immediately afterwards! Can't have anyone copying that awesome style!

I hope these tips are helpful for your next video interview! Happy Holidays!
