OpenID - Google, Microsoft join the party
5 November, 2008
A little while ago I blogged about some great next-generation technology, OpenID, and how we are keen to get it up and running on Siteflex.
I was excited to see that both Microsoft and Google recently announced they were becoming official OpenID providers - and, infact, Google has already implemented a portion of the OpenID technology.
This is a great step forward for OpenID, making the future seem brighter as far as cutting down the regular daily hassles of browsing the Internet - having to remember so many damned logins and fill in the same information time and time again.Currently users are required to create individual passwords for many websites they visit, but users would prefer to avoid this step so they could visits websites more easily. Similarly, many websites on the Internet have asked for a way to enable users to log into their sites without forcing them to create another password. If users could log into sites without needing another password, it would allow websites to provide a more personalized experience to their users.
